After teaching English for 20 years at St. John's Prep, I moved into the Computer Science Department. Sounds different, and it is, but what's the same about being a teacher in both fields is the opportunity to help people learn new things. I get a rush out of seeing people understand things in new ways and being part of that process. I currently teach AP Computer Science, a semester Java programming class using a game/simulation environment called Greenfoot, coach our school's robotics team, and proctor our school's computer club. Outside school I scuba dive and do underwater video, which leads me back to my computer after a restful time away.
